Bio: Kelly was appointed to the Keep Bakersfield Beautiful Board by Councilmember Zack Scrivner in October 2007. Kelly is married to Mark, and they have two teenagers that attend a local high school. Kelly states that, "high school students are a great resource for recruiting volunteers for Keep Bakersfield Beautiful. Students are always needing to have some community service hours and I believe if they take pride in their community now, they always will." Kelly recently closed her daycare business which she owned for more than 13 years and went back to work in the dental field after a 21 year absence. |

STEPHEN MONTGOMERY WARD 2 - COUNCILMEMBER SUE BENHAM

Bio: Stephen Montgomery and his wife Joyce Hulen live in the historic Oleander Sunset
district in a Clarence Cullimore Adobe built in 1937. He works as a
freight conductor for the Union Pacific Railroad and is the
Legislative Officer in the Local 835, United Transportation Union.
Stephen's interests include history, classical music, architecture, historic
preservation, sound urban planning and art. Mr. Mongomery states,"I'm dedicated to
promoting Bakersfield and making it a better place to live."

Elizabeth Rodacker, Ward 2 Alternate-Councilmember Sue Benham
Elizabeth Rodacker returned the Central Valley of California after an 11 year absence. While gone, she taught English in Kagoshima, Japan for two years and subsequently served as a professor at Union College in Lincoln, Nebraska. While in Lincoln, Ms. Rodacker was appointed by the mayor as a Commissioner on the Lincoln Women’s Commission. She was also awarded for working in the community gardens. Currently, Ms. Rodacker teaches English as a Second Language at Bakersfield College.
Ms. Rodacker enjoys getting involved in the local community to make it a cleaner, greener and safer place. She currently lives in Bakersfield with her husband Ed and their English Setter Lady.

Bio: Margaret Maier moved to Bakersfield 3 years ago but has been working with the City of Bakersfield for many years recycling Electronic Waste. Margaret opened a Recycling Facility in Bakersfield almost 2 years ago. Margaret’s key focus is making our environment clean and healthy while teaching others just how easy it is to do the same. Margaret comes with over 10 years experience in helping her to make her City a cleaner, greener and healthier place to live |

Bio: Lyle Martin was appointed to the Keep Bakersfield Beautiful Committee April 3rd 2008.
Lyle is the Chairperson of the Education Sub-Committee for the Keep Bakersfield Beautiful and a board member of The Bakersfield Police Activities League.
Lyle is a Bakersfield native and is dedicated to his family and public service. He is married and the father of four sons. Lyle is the Assistant Chief of Police for the Bakersfield Police Department. He has worked for the Bakersfield Police Department since 1988. He has worked in every division of the department.
Lyle remembers that a wise cowboy once said “the piece of the pie is never bigger or better than the whole pie.” Lyle believes volunteerism and service to this community is vital to a bigger and better Bakersfield. |

Dorothy Vokolek, Ward 4 Alternate-Councilmember David Couch

Bio: Dorothy Vokolek is a graduate of CSUB with a B.S. in Business Administration. Her career includes owning her own business as a Certified Family Financial Planner and many other aspects of Financial Planning. Over the years she has also worked in the Defense Industry (Ridgecrest) in both the private and public sector. Some of her previous duties includes; Maintaining Software for weapons, and later supervising others who performed these tasks, at China Lake she was Supervisor for the Harm Missle test set software support activity and interfacing with the formal Naval pesonnel as well as contractors performing services for the Navy. Now retired, Dorothy enjoys traveling, tennis, hiking and other outdoor activities. Besides Keep Bakersfield Beautiful she has been dedicated to volunteering for other organizations such as; PTA President, Head of Ridgecrest Beautification Committee, CASA, and the Salvation Army.

DAVE TAYLOR WARD 5 - COUNCILMEMBER HAROLD HANSON

Bio: David Taylor was appointed to the Keep Bakersfield Beautiful Board by City Councilman Harold Hanson in My 2004. During his tenure, Mr. Taylor has served on many committees and is the only person to be elected as Chairman of the Board consecutively in 2005 and 2006. In addition, David serves as co-chair of the Great America Clean-Up Committee and works on the Education Committee.
Mr. Taylor coordinates the Mayor's Freeway Clean-up under the direction of the Honorable Mayor Harvey L. Hall. David was instrumental in bringing Keep Bakersfield Beautiful to the table when a grant became available to plant 500 trees in five years. the committee will complete that project his year, 2009, with the planting of the last 100 trees.
mr. Taylor's passion for volunteering come from his mentor and employer, Harvey L Hall, who has taught Dvid by example that volunteering and community go hand in hand.
David has lived in Bakersfield all his adult life and considers Bakersfield his home. He has been employed by Hall Ambulance Service, Inc. for 20 years and began his career as an EMT. Mr. Taylor presently holds the position of Public Relations and Marketing Representative.
Mr. Taylor is married with three children and likes playing paint ball, softball and collecting in his spare time. |

Tony Martinez Ward 6 Alternate-Council member Jacquie Sullivan

Bio: In 2008 Tony Martinez was selected to chair the Graffiti Committee on the Keep Bakersfield Beautiful Board. Immediately a partnership was formed between Keep Bakersfield Beautiful and the Bakersfield Police Department’s Crime Prevention Unit and an Anti-Graffiti Task Force, consisting of City, County and State graffiti programs, law enforcement, probation, education, parks, art community, local political representatives and community volunteer groups was formed. The purpose of the task force is to work together, find solutions and implement strategies to help eliminate graffiti in our communities.
Tony volunteers and is an active member of several local non-profit groups. Presently he sits on the Board of Directors of Community Action Partnership of Kern as Mayor Harvey Hall’s appointee and Vice President of the Kern County Board of Trade as Supervisor Michael Rubio’s appointee.
Tony main goal on this board is to impact and reduce graffiti in our neighborhoods.

JOHN ENRIQUEZ MAYORS APPOINTMENT - MAYOR HARVEY L. HALL

Bio: John Enriquez was a founding member of Keep Bakersfield Beautiful in 2000, and has served on the board twice, including as Chairman in 2004. He is currently spearheading the Highway 99 Tree Planting Subcommittee of the Beautification Committee, dedicated to planting 500 trees on Highway 99 over five years beginning in 2005. The effort will have met it's goal in 2009 when the last 55 trees are planted in October. Mr Enriquez has served on the Board of Keep California Beautiful for five years. He is a past Vice Chairman and presently Chairperson of the Proud Communities Program.
Mr. Enriquez has been active in a number of community programs and projects over the years including helping to construct the interactive waterfall at the Rabobank Arena and serving on the Fox Theater Foundation board. He is the Chairman of the Kern County Heritage Commission. Mr. Enriquez is the only volunteer in the nation to win both the Iron Eyes Cody Award (2004) and the Volunteer of the Year Award (2003) from Keep America Beautiful in Washington DC. He has been employed by the City of Santa Clarita since 1991. |
